When Troy Burchett went to Nashville, he took his guitar, three chords, and a
dream—to make a name for himself in the music industry. Nashville, though,
was a wake-up call for the young singer. He soon realized that three chords, a
great singing voice, and an ability to write his own songs were not enough so he
learned as much as he could from the other Nashville musicians and singers.
And, boy did he learn. He fine-tuned his voice, his musical technique, and his
His musical experience includes entertaining for CMT representatives,
songwriters, and Grand Ole Opry Star Billy Walker. Afterward, he was presented
the Best Instrumentalist Award. He performed for Naomi Judd at the Pikeville
Expo Center, for Kentucky’s governors, and for former Presidential Candidate
John Edwards during various events.
He was a guest artist on Virginia Dreams, an RFD television show, where his
original song, “Spirit Survives,” garnered the program’s highest ratings in its
history. He has entertained at various venues: as an often-requested gospel
performer on a T.V. station in Beattyville, Kentucky, at the Wild Horse Saloon in
Nashville, in Harrisonburg and Abington, Virginia, Jackson and Columbus, Ohio,
and Poppy Mountain, Louisville, Lexington, and Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Troy has released several CD’s, including a gospel CD, but his latest project “Turn
Back Time” is capturing the heart of his followers and is the most successful of
his releases. At his CD release party, he donated the proceeds of sales to an
animal rescue group in his hometown. He received an award, “Keep Fighting the
Good Fight,” from the Mountain Arts Center, where he has performed, for his
abilities and for his altruism.
Troy blends the old style of music with modern styles. Rock songs and Elvis songs
are his most requested, but his original soft ballads are popular among his fans,
In addition, he performed 60-70 shows per year for five years as a founding
member of the Big Sandy Singers, is an actor, wrote a title song for a movie, and
holds a 2001 World Karate Championship Title.
